Hello there! Since this is my very first bit of writing on this blog, let me give an overview of what it is actually about. The U and I stand for Unmasked and Identified, which are apparently offensive words for most Americans, since they probably will give you a weird look if you ever mention them in regards to the soul. To clarify, let me give you a picture: at a masquerade, people, of their own free will, hold masks up to their faces, dance, eat good food, and playfully ask other people (who are also wearing masks) if they can figure out who they are. After a good time at the masquerade, having teased some and shown their faces to others, the people finally take off their masks and everyone can identify everyone else. Then they walk into the night air, tired, but happy, and with their masks off... But wait, their masks still remain, even as their plastic masks hang at their sides. These masks hide their true faces. They are good, aren't they? You almost don't notice that they are fake, just like the masks that the people carry. You see, each of these people has two masks at least. One to hide their "flesh face", and one to hide their "soul face." Each person seems to be in two masquerades, as well. One in play, and one in life. But that is where most of the similarity stops. In play, the people dance gracefully, while in life, they drag their feet, because they carry a burden in their souls that they were never meant to carry. In play, they eat good food, but in life, they starve their souls of nutrition and instead eat poison. In play, they playfully see if others can figure out who they are, occasionally give hints, and show their faces to their secret crush. In life, people grasp frantically at their mask and risk their already starved souls to keep it. Pretty terrible, huh? By now, though, you might be realizing the awful truth: that U and I aren't spectators. We are participants in Life Masquerade. And what is worse is this: we are masking our hearts of our own free will.
I hope that this blog might help you to understand things, and to fix others by running to God. Let me tell you, though: God is my editor, and sometimes the way that He chooses to edit is giving you the grace to put up with me when I have it wrong. I am only human, too. So please, give me your thoughts and opinions and questions, just please also give me the grace in the times when I mess up. :) As a last note, this blog will be focused on many different topics concerning Jesus and life, but I think that the main focus will be on how we loose our masks (Unmasked), and how we find out who God created us to be (Identified).
